Mark Klotzbach, Sr.

PRESIDENT

Mark F. Klotzbach, Sr. is President of Stryker DES. Mark holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University and served in the United States Army. Mark has over 40 years of experience in the construction, demolition and environmental remediation industry. He developed and managed global demolition and remediation programs since 1980, completing projects for Fortune 500 companies and governmental agencies including the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Energy (DOE). Mark specializes in plant and selective demolition, dismantlement and decommissioning projects, involving the remediation of regulated and hazardous materials, including asbestos abatement.

VICE PRESIDENT

Mark F. Klotzbach, Jr. is Vice President of Stryker DES. Mark holds a degree in Business Administration/Finance from The College of Charleston. He spent six years working in the financial services in New York. Mark works throughout Stryker’s organization to ensure operational efficiencies.   

Joe Eichler

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from DeSales University and has over 30 years of experience in the environmental management industry. His work experience includes decommissioning and asset recovery, site remediation, and waste reclamation & management. His roles varied from project director, project manager, site project administrator, and business development.   

Greg Klotzbach,
CSP, CHST

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY DIRECTOR

Greg leads the company's EHS initiatives and has been instrumental in advancing  health and safety standards, showcasing our commitment to EHS management  excellence. A BCSP Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and  Safety Technician (CHST), he brings over a decade of experience in cultivating a  culture where safety and well-being are paramount, empowering every employee to  contribute. His expertise in regulatory compliance, safety program development, and  a wide range of critical EHS areas has significantly reduced workplace incidents and  improved employee training programs. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in  Business from Fordham University, Greg is passionate about exceeding safety standards, positioning Stryker as a leader in workplace safety performance.

Chris White

SR. SUPERINTENDENT

Chris White has over 30 years of experience in the environmental and demolition industry.  At Stryker DES Chris provides supervision of field-based work. His responsibilities include project set-up, managing Stryker DES field teams, interfacing our clients and involved engineering/regulatory personnel, procuring and managing subcontractors, obtaining/scheduling required materials and equipment, and overseeing operations including quality control and site safety.  Chris and his team have won multiple awards for safety such as the Summer Safety Awards for a global aluminum manufacturing client and an award for over 2,000,000 Safe Man Hours for a project safely completed at a refractory brick manufacturing facility.

Ralph Rutland

SUPERINTENDENT

Ralph has over 38 years of experience in the construction and environmental industry, having developed a broad range of expertise in project supervision, management, and operations. As site Superintendent, Ralph provides direct project field management, field contract administration, enforcement of corporate H&S policies and procedures, assisting in achieving corporate and project goals in safety, profitability, and business growth. Additionally, Ralph has a wealth of construction related experience, which translates into a practical, efficient and safe management of field crews and operations.   Before Stryker DES, Ralph served various roles dealing with the decommissioning or select industrial facilities.  Ralph has a vast history in OSHA demolition practices and asbestos and environmental remediation field practices, assembling safe and effective teams, while maintaining effective communication company management and, most importantly, the customer. 

Sue Catanese

CONTROLLER

Sue holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Shippensburg University. She has over 30 years of experience in corporate financial management across various industries with an emphasis on cost accounting and financial reporting. Sue heads up our accounting/finance team and oversees office operations at our headquarters in King of Prussia, PA.  

Jon Astacio

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

With over 17 years of work experience in the demolition and construction industries, Jon has developed core competencies in logistics management, demolition, and hazardous waste disposal.  His mission is to ensure the safety, efficiency, and quality of every project he assists with, while minimizing the environmental impact and maximizing customer satisfaction.  At Stryker DES, Jon has developed a broad range of experience in project supervision, vendor management, field health & safety operations, and supporting ‘people first’ initiatives on the project sites. 

Rick Brackett

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR,
GULF COAST REGION

Rick has extensive environmental remediation/demolition Sales management experience with Refining, Petrochemical, LNG, Renewable Industrial/Federal clients on a National and International level. With an environmental degree from Texas A&M University, and over 20 years of experience in development, engineering, operations, financial strategies, and project/construction management, Rick works with clients to identify, manage, and mitigate the risk of escalating cleanup cost inherent to remediation/construction and hazardous waste projects. He is a proven leader with strong engineering/technical knowledge, regulatory strategy/negotiation, and field remediation/construction experience for large scale projects.   Rick leads Stryker’s business development initiatives in Texas and the Gulf Coast region. 

Chara Law

DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Chara Law has over 16 years of experience in implementing strategic and successful people-oriented programs for several Fortune 500 organizations and beyond. Her experience in all aspects of Human Resources values putting people first by ensuring Stryker DES’s vital programs are in the forefront of the business.  By implementing foundational programs promoting employee growth & development and engagement, our project sustainability and effectiveness increases, while ensuring that our employees’ health & wellness, safety, and happiness is her highest priority.   

John Thanasides

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

John has more than 40 years of experience of program and project management in the Industrial Dismantling and Demolition industry.  He has extensive background in heavy rigging and hoisting, boiler and precipitator removal, complete asbestos and lead abatement, development of project specific demolition work plans, scheduling, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).  Mr. Thanasides’ responsibilities at Stryker include daily interface with customers, oversight of project activities, daily management of project record documents, scheduling and project tracking, and cost management analysis.

Karl Klotzbach

DIRECTOR OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT

With over 40 years of experience in the demolition and environmental remediation industry,  Karl brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as Director of Quality Management at Stryker DES.  He focuses on integrating quality management systems and practices to enhance operational efficiency and compliance. His leadership ensures our projects meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory, and environmental stewardship.   

Mica Kern

PROJECT MANAGER

Mica Kern has over ten years of experience in asbestos removal and abatement, lead based paint abatement, strategic and surgical demolition, and dismantling operations.  His project experience ranges from the abatement and demolition of industrial, commercial, and health care facilities.  Mica has a vast history in OSHA demolition practices and asbestos and environmental remediation field practices. He has served as an environmental field expert including project design and work plan development, permitting, project scheduling, and project budgeting. 

Jake McCarty

INVENTORY & OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

As Stryker DES’s longest-tenured employee, Jake McCarty has grown in experience in tandem as the company has expanded.  He has over 14 years of experience in the environmental services field, starting at Stryker DES not only on project sites as an abatement supervisor, but most recently heading up our warehouse operations by managing inventory, equipment resource schedules, and project launches.
