Surgical Demolition, Separations, Crane Rigging & Lifting

New York

Stryker DES was awarded the contract for decommissioning and partial demolition of an idled Powerhouse, at this active chemical manufacturing plant located in upper New York State. Client demands require the hand demolition, surgical separation, and crane rigging & lifting of a portion of the Powerhouse structure and equipment.  Asbestos containing materials were removed prior to structural demolition activities.  The building interior contained a large hung boiler and a smaller package boiler, as well as equipment and appurtenances.  The exterior brick outer façade was hand removed to prevent it from falling to the ground and potentially damaging the chemical plant utilities and infrastructure.  Following the removal of the exterior and interior equipment, the partial structural demolition of the building skeleton was isolated and lowered to the ground using a hydraulic crane.

This project was completed successfully, after 19,259 man-hours worked.
